Prepare the Way!

John lived in the wilderness preaching a message that many didn’t want to hear—repent, turn back to God, and get ready for the one He was sending. He spread new ideas that challenged the powerful and made people uncomfortable. This story follows his bold life, his baptism of Jesus, and the price he paid for standing up for the truth.

Who Is Jesus—and Why Did He Come?

This storybook helps kids understand where Jesus came from, why He came to earth, and who He really is. Written for ages 8–13, it explains big truths in a clear, simple way.

With questions at the end to check understanding, this book is great for families, classrooms, and church groups. It’s more than a story—it’s an invitation to know Jesus for yourself.

Anaya and the Curse

Everyone said Anaya was cursed and better off forgotten. But God sees the broken and the left out. He loves deeply—even those the world tries to throw away. As Anaya’s story unfolds, she begins to discover that the curse was never stronger than God’s love.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted” (Psalm 34:18 NIV).

Exodus: 1-17

(Ages 8-13)

Updated Weekly!

Exodus 1-3: Moses: From Rescue to Leader

These lessons cover the early life of Moses, including his rescue from death and upbringing in Pharaoh’s palace. They highlight how God prepared him to become a leader. Students will explore Moses’ calling to lead God’s people out of bondage in Egypt.

These lessons teach that God sometimes allows people’s hearts to be stubborn, shows Himself by His special name, and that Moses missed chances to speak boldly because he doubted. They remind us that God’s plans are powerful and sure, even when people resist or hesitate. Faith and obedience help us step into the role God wants us to have.

Exodus 4-6: Moses: God’s Power, Moses’ Doubts

These lessons remind us that it can be easy to lose hope when life gets hard. That’s what the Israelites did. But even when they struggled, God stayed faithful to His promises. We also see how dangerous pride can be. A prideful heart refuses to listen to God, and that path always leads to trouble.

Exodus 7 and 8: The plagues

These lessons show that having a hard heart doesn’t just hurt you—it can hurt other people too. They also teach us that pride can make us blind to the truth.

Exodus 9: Livestock, Boils, and Hail

These lessons remind us of God’s power and might, His love for life, and the danger of a stubborn heart.

Exodus 10 and 11: Locust, Darkness, Death of the Firstborn

This lesson highlights the importance of the Passover lamb and how it led to the redemption of the Israelites.

Exodus 12: The Passover Lamb

This lesson teaches that God knows what’s best for us, even when it’s hard to see. God led the Israelites the long way through the desert because He knew it was the best path for them.

Exodus 13: The Long Way

These Lessons show how God displayed His power by parting the Red Sea so that everyone would know who He is. After praising God for this miracle, the Israelites soon doubted Him when they had no water in the desert.

Exodus 14-15: Praise and Doubt

These lessons remind us that God is faithful and provides for His people, even when they complain—supplying food in the desert and turning bitter water sweet.

Exodus 15-17: God Is Faithful

🌿 A Note from the Author

Hi, I’m Ariel Childs—author of The Island of Sheqer.
Before you read this sample, I want to tell you why I wrote it.

This story was born out of prayer, pain, and hope—and inspired by the wonderful youth at my church. It’s for kids (especially Black children) who’ve been overlooked or wounded and wonder if God still sees them. It’s for families who want stories that deal honestly with suffering but still point to truth, healing and redemption.

This is not a light, fluffy story. It’s real.
But it’s also full of hope, miracles, and a God who never forgets.

If you or your child are walking through questions of faith, injustice, or healing—I pray this first chapter reaches you.

Thank you for being here.

With love,
Ariel
